Training Workshop on “Food Security Policies in the Arab Countries under the World Food Crisis”

Visit of Summer Training Students

Accompanied by Professor Mahmoud Yassin, summer training students of the Agricultural Economy Division of Faculty of agriculture in Damascus University visited the NAPC on 27 July.
The students spent a training day in the NAPC and were informed about its mission and activities. Chiefs of Divisions presented their divisions’ mission, duties, and activities.

In addition, students were trained to use the electronic Syrian Agricultural Database SADB to retrieve agricultural statistical data in a very easy technique.

12th Scientific Committee Meeting

The twelfth Scientific Committee Meeting took place at the NAPC premises in 3 July. 2008. The Scientific Committee was composed of two international members, Mr H. De Haen and Mr. D. Romano, and two national members, Mr M. Yassin and Mr M. Khazma.
The Committee reviewed the NAPC Progress Report for the first half of 2008. and the quality assessment report of NAPC’s outputs for 2007 in the context of sustainability Monitoring System. In addition, it evaluated the recent activities in 2008 and the progress attained.

International Workshop on "The contribution of Agriculture to the process of Economic Reforms in Syria"

Under the patronage of H.E. Visit of the Agricultural Economy Division’ students of the Faculty of Agriculture of Damascus University

Accompanied by Professors Dr. Mahmoud Yassin and Dr. Arass khalil, students of the Agricultural Economy Division of Damascus University visited the NAPC on 14 April 2008. The visit aimed at closely being informed about the Center’s missions, activities and outcomes.
The NAPC Director opened the meeting and briefed on the Centre establishment and functions.

11th Scientific Committee Meeting

The Eleventh Scientific Committee (SC) Meeting took place at the NAPC premises from December 16 to 18, 2007. The SC was composed of two international members, Mr H. De Haen and Mr. F. De Filippis, and two national members, Mr M. Yassin and Mr M. Khazma.
The Committee reviewed the NAPC Progress Report for the second half of 2007. In addition, it discussed the ongoing studies and research being conducted by the Center, as well as evaluated the recent activities and the progress attained.

The 12^th issue of NAPC Newsletter

The 12^th issue of the NAPC Newsletter was published in April in order to keep the readers abreast of the last developments regarding the dialogue on agricultural policy, considered as a crucial element enhancing exchange of information and fostering the collaboration of different institutions.
