Under the aegis of the Ministry
of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform of Syria, the FAO and the NAPC, supported by the
Project GCP/SYR/006/ITA, have jointly organized
a Regional Workshop on Institution Building for Agricultural Policies in the Near East.
The meeting, held at Cham Palace, Damascus, on 6 and 7 December 2003, and attended by twenty two delegates from
fifteen countries of the Region, comprising Afghanistan, Cyprus, Egypt, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Sudan,
Syria, Tunisia, Turkey and Yemen, briefed on needs and conditions for adequate technical and institutional capacity development in the field of
agricultural policy analysis.
