Organic Farming: European Markets and Opportunities for
Syria
On July 7th,
2002, the seminar on Organic Farming: European Markets and Opportunities for
Syria was delivered by Mr F.M. Santucci, professor at University of Perugia,
Italy, presented the different approaches to organic farming and illustrated
its increasing importance, providing evidences of markets and prices trends
with special references to the European Union. He highlighted the emerging
export opportunity for Syrian products, providing advices on actions needed
in order to exploit this potentiality, including the establishment of work
groups for drafting the needed legislation, designing pilot projects with
the support of the state or international organizations, establishing a
certification body, and promoting research extension and consumer education.
