 “Assessment of the world food security situation - with a Near East
Perspective –“ is the topic of the seminar delivered on 12 December 2006
at the National Agricultural Policy Center (NAPC) by Professor Hartwig
De Haen, Emeritus FAO Deputy Director General, recruited under the
Italian funded Project GCP/SYR/006/ITA executed by the Food and
Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
The Forum, which is the last activity of the 2006 Agricultural Policy
Forum promoted by the NAPC, aimed at assessing the world food security
situation and the progress achieved in the field of alleviating hunger
according to the latest FAO estimates, with particular reference to the
Near East and North Africa. |
